Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Lumera Light Party (the "App"), developed by Birkan Aksoy, handles user information. In short: we do not collect personal data, and audio never leaves your phone.

1. Data We Collect

None. Lumera Light Party does not collect, store, share, or transmit any personal information, usage analytics, identifiers, advertising IDs, or device fingerprints to any server controlled by us. We do not operate a backend.

2. Microphone Access (Auto Mode)

The App requests microphone access only when the host turns on "Auto Mode". The microphone signal is analysed on-device in real time purely to detect beat and energy so the lights can react to the music in the room. The audio is never recorded, saved to disk, sent over the network, or shared with any third party. Microphone access stops as soon as Auto Mode is turned off.

3. Local Network & Multipeer Connections

Lumera Light Party uses Apple's MultipeerConnectivity framework over Bluetooth and the local Wi-Fi network to synchronise nearby iPhones into a single light show. Devices advertise and browse for each other using a Bonjour service name (_lumera-pty._tcp / ._udp).

Only devices in physical range can be discovered.
Connections are peer-to-peer and do not route through any server we control.
The only data exchanged is light-show state (selected mode, intensity, beat triggers, room code, optional emoji reactions, display name you choose).
No personal identifiers, contacts, location, or contents from other apps are accessed or shared.

4. Camera / Torch Access

Lumera Light Party uses Apple's camera framework solely to control the LED torch for flash and strobe effects. The camera sensor is not activated, and no images or video are captured at any time.

5. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The App saves the following locally using Apple's UserDefaults and the app's sandboxed file storage:

Onboarding and first-launch flags
Your chosen display name and favorite light modes
Recent room codes for quick re-join
Local party history / recap entries (host device only)
Settings such as haptics, brightness, language and theme preferences
Launch telemetry kept on-device (last cold-start times, used for in-app diagnostics only)

This data never leaves your device and is removed when you uninstall the App.

6. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions (Lumera Pro)

Lumera Pro (monthly, yearly, lifetime) is sold through Apple's StoreKit. All purchase, billing, and renewal information is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy — we never see your payment details. The App only receives a verified entitlement from Apple confirming whether you have an active Pro subscription. You can manage or cancel anytime in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

7. Third-Party Services

Lumera Light Party does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, attribution, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs. The only Apple services used are MultipeerConnectivity, StoreKit, ActivityKit (Live Activity / Dynamic Island), WidgetKit, and the standard system frameworks required to run the app.

8. Children's Privacy

Lumera Light Party does not knowingly collect any data from any user, including children under 13. The App is rated for general audiences but may not be appropriate for very young children due to intense flashing lights.

9. Photosensitivity Notice

Lumera Light Party contains intense flashing lights and strobe effects. Do not use the App if you have photosensitive epilepsy or any seizure disorder. This notice exists for your safety and is not related to data collection.

10. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new effective date. Material changes will also be announced in the App.
