How do I scan a document?

Open the Tools tab → Scan Document, or tap Scan on the Home screen. Point the camera at your document; edges are detected automatically. The document scanner requires a real device (it isn't available in the Simulator).

How do I make a scan searchable?

When reviewing a scan, keep "Make searchable (OCR)" turned on before saving. PDF Studio adds an on-device text layer so you can search the document.

Does "PDF to Word" keep the original layout?

PDF Studio extracts the text from your PDF and exports it as an editable .docx (or .txt) file. It preserves the text and paragraphs, not the exact visual layout, fonts, or images.

Where are my files stored? Are they uploaded?

All files are stored locally inside the app on your device and are never uploaded. PDF Studio works fully offline and collects no data.

How does compression work?

Compression re-encodes pages as optimized images to reduce file size. It works best on scans and image-heavy PDFs. If a file is already small, PDF Studio leaves it unchanged.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone and iPad running iOS / iPadOS 18 or later.
