dB Meter is built to respect your privacy. There are no ads, no analytics, and no third-party tracking. We do not collect, sell, or share your personal data. Your measurements stay on your device.
dB Meter uses the microphone only to measure the sound level around you in real time. Audio is never recorded, saved, or transmitted — it is analyzed instantly to compute a decibel value and immediately discarded.
Recorded measurements (levels over time, stats, and timestamps) are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded anywhere. You can delete them at any time from the History tab.
If you enable location tagging, dB Meter attaches the approximate place of a measurement so you can remember where you took it. This is stored locally with the measurement. To turn a coordinate into a readable place name, the coordinate is sent to Apple's geocoding service. Location tagging is off unless you enable it, and can be disabled in Settings.
If you enable Apple Health sync, dB Meter writes your measured sound level to Health as environmental audio exposure. This data is managed by Apple Health under your control; dB Meter does not read or share it elsewhere. Health sync is off unless you enable it.
dB Meter does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page.
